Laonicus Chalcocondyles (born c. 1423, Athens, Greece, Byzantine Empire [now in Greece]—died 1490?) was a Byzantine historian, the author of the valuable work Historiarum demonstrationes (“Demonstrations of History”). Chalcocondyles came of a distinguished Athenian family and was educated at the Palaeologan court at Mistra in the Peloponnese.

He belongs, together with George Sphrantzes (1401–77/8), Doukas (ca. 1400–70) and Michael Kritoboulos (ca. 1406–10), to the group of the four Byzantine historians who recorded the events of the Fall of Constantinople (1453).
