Sumitranandan Pant (May 20, 1900- December 28, 1977) was born in Kausani village of Almora District (Uttarakhand). He is considered one of the major poets of Chhayavaad in Hindi literature. He also wrote progressive, philosophical, socialist and humanist poems. He wrote twenty-eight published works including poetry, verse plays and essays.
