American songwriter, A&R executive, producer and Choctaw indian historian. Married to Harvie June Van (50s/60s). Best known for writing Ferlin Husky 's "Wings of a Dove" as well as "Carroll County Accident." As an A&R man and producer he worked for several labels, including RCA (1963 - 1978).
