11. Dez. 2022 · Pappy Daily Assumingly Died From Natural Causes. Harold “Pappy” Daily died on December 5, 1987. The nature of his death could not be confirmed, but considering that he was well into his 80s, it can be assumed that he died of natural causes. He is buried at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
The label began in 1952 in Beaumont, Texas, when local businessmen Jack Starnes (Lefty Frizzell's manager) and Houston record distributor Harold W. Daily (better known as "Pappy") decided to form a record label. The Starday name is a combination of Starnes' and Daily's last names.
