Flower Pot Men. English pop group created in 1967 as a result of the success of Let's Go To San Francisco, which had been created by Carter-Lewis with session musicians. The group's sound was characterised by rich, three-part vocal harmonies. Do not confuse with The Flowerpot Men (1980s).
With Peter Hawkins, Maria Bird, Gladys Whitred, Julia Williams. All episodes were narrated by Maria Bird, the storyteller for all the black and white 1950s originals. 26 episodes of The Flower Pot Men were made by the BBC.
In 1952, Hawkins became the voices of both Bill and Ben, the Flower Pot Men, for which he invented their Oddle-Poddle language. He made Bill's voice higher-pitched and Ben's lower-pitches to distinguish them, and praised the puppetry of Audrey Atterbury. [4] .
