2. Sept. 2021 · The British Academy has awarded the highly prestigious Leverhulme Medal and Prize 2021 to Emerita Professor of modern British social and cultural history, Catherine Hall FBA, who is Chair of the UCL Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slavery.
Researching Slave-owners. You may want to do some research of your own on British slave-owners and slave-ownership. You can download a guide to help you do this. Using the Parliamentary return of 1837-38. This is a fundamental source for investigating those awarded compensation.

The Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slavery, formerly the Centre for the Study of the Legacies of British Slave-ownership, is a research centre of University College, London (UCL) that focuses on revealing the impact of British slavery and, in particular, the implications of the Slave Compensation Act 1837.
