6. Nov. 2018 · The National Archives department has compiled a list of incidents between September 1944 to March 1945 detailing where the missiles hit and how many times. The list refers specifically to the V2 rocket, which was the worlds first long range guided missile developed by Germans to attack Allied cities.
The World War Two trail concentrates on the coastal defences which were built on the beaches, seawalls, cliffs and greenswards from Frinton to the boundary of Holland-on-Sea and Clacton. It is around four-and-a-half miles (7.3 kms) long and could be walked either piecemeal or by using two cars, shuttle-fashion.

Frinton-on-Sea is a small seaside resort town in Essex, one which flowered suddenly in the Victorian period with the coming of the railway and throve in the early twentieth century, a growth matched by a decline after the War. It is now contiguous with Walton-on-the-Naze to the north along the coast.
