The Sound of Silence (englisch für „Der Klang der Stille“), auch The Sounds of Silence ‚Die Klänge der Stille‘, ist ein Folk-Rock-Song des US-amerikanischen Duos Simon & Garfunkel. Das von Paul Simon geschriebene Stück wurde erstmals 1964 auf dem Album Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M. veröffentlicht.
In the dark. 'Hello darkness, my old friend / I've come to talk with you again.'" According to Garfunkel, the song was first developed in November 1963, but Simon took three months to perfect the lyrics, which were entirely written on February 19, 1964.
1. Lyrics: Hello darkness, my old friend. I’ve come to talk with you again. Because a vision softly creeping. Left its seeds while I was sleeping. And the vision that was planted in my brain. Still remains. Within the sound of silence. In restless dreams I walked alone. Narrow streets of cobblestone. ‘Neath the halo of a streetlamp.
