It is located on the south shores of Galway Bay, in the northwest corner of The Burren, an area of great rocky expanse, considered by many to be a unique landscape.
The picturesque village of Ballyvaughan is a Discovery Point along the Wild Atlantic Way and is an ideal base for visitors exploring the ancient dolmens, stone forts, wedge and gallery graves, Christian crosses, oratories and churches, caves and wooded valleys of the Burren region.

Location. The ruins are located around 800 metres east of the village of Bellharbour in Glennamannagh, a valley of the Burren. The closest large village is Ballyvaughan, a few miles further west. The L1014 road passes close by the abbey. About a kilometer from the abbey are the ruined churches of Oughtmama.
