Director Hideaki Itsuno had expressed interest in making a direct sequel as early as 2013. The sequel, Dragon's Dogma II, was announced in June 2022 for PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X/S. The game is being developed on the RE Engine, with Itsuno returning as director.
Dragon's Dogma 2 is directed by Hideaki Itsuno. One of the main goals for the team was to introduce improvements to the gameplay mechanics of its predecessor, and include features that were cut due to technology not being readily available at the time.
