Our Town. About Us. Nevada is located in the Southwest portion of the State of Missouri. Originally called Nevada City, the community grew out of the municipal organization of Vernon County and was chosen as the county seat in 1855.
Nevada City was incorporated in 1869, at which time it dropped the word City from its name. The city's first sidewalks were made of wooded planks. Nevada has its first police and about 300 persons were living in Nevada.
