Anathema were an English rock band from Liverpool. The group was formed in 1990 by Vincent and Daniel Cavanagh, bassist Jamie Cavanagh, drummer/keyboardist John Douglas, and vocalist Darren White. The band maintained an active concert schedule throughout their career.
The word anathema has two main meanings. One is to describe that something or someone is being hated or avoided. The other refers to a formal excommunication by a church. These meanings come from the New Testament, where an Anathema was a person or thing cursed or condemned by God.
This is a discography of Anathema, a Liverpool-based rock band. They released three albums through Peaceville Records before switching to Music For Nations in 1998. Since 2010 the band have been releasing material through K Scope.
