Charles Edward (Leopold Charles Edward George Albert; 19 July 1884 – 6 March 1954) was at various points in his life a British prince, a German duke and a Nazi politician. He was the last ruling duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha , a state of the German Empire , from 30 July 1900 to 14 November 1918.

Charles Edward's uncle Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and his male line had renounced their claim. Although senior by birth, they were either not acceptable to the German Emperor as either a member of the British military or unwilling to move to Germany.
Reigning as Duke Carl Eduard, Charles Edward, because of his age, began under the Regency of Prince Ernst von Hohenlohe-Langenburg until he came of age in 1905. The new Duke also continued to use his British title, the Duke of Albany.
Charles Edward was named president of the German Red Cross in 1933 and worked with Hitler to prepare this humanitarian organization for military work in the coming war.
Charles Edward, Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, was the fourth and last reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, two duchies in Germany, and the head of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha from 1900 until his death in 1954.
