Er spielte Klavier, Orgel und Cembalo und war einer der meistbeschäftigten Sessionmusiker und gefragtesten Rock-Pianisten der Rock- und Rock-’n’-Roll -Ära in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren.
Nicky Hopkins died in Nashville on 6th September 1994 at the tragically early age of fifty, from complications related to his lifelong illnesses and frailty. Nicky loved England and when he returned after years in America, he had written the beautiful piece of music he played that day with special feeling - his own composition on his native soil. When I first met Nicky in Los Angeles, it was a very brief introduction, but as I walked away, I said to my friend, ‘I wish I could marry someone like Nicky Hopkins.’
