Stowe School is a public school (English fee-charging boarding and day school) for pupils aged 13–18 in Stowe, England. It opened on 11 May 1923, initially with 99 schoolboys, and with J. F. Roxburgh as the first headmaster.
Stowe School opened with its first 99 pupils, mainly aged 13, on 11 May 1923. There were two boarding Houses, Bruce and Temple, then both in the western part of the mansion.
But how did it become a school for 900 pupils from its original use as a ducal palace for one family? We'll look at the events from 1889 to 1923 from the decline of a leading aristocratic family to the creation of a new public school before modern times paved the way for modernisation.
Stowe School and the National Trust (1920s–today) The estate was sold in July 1921 for £50,000 to Harry Shaw, followed by further sales of contents and statues in 1922. There was another sale of the estate in October to the governing body that would later form Stowe School.
In the mid-to-late 1800's, Stowe was blessed with 19 different schools comprising the Village School and 18 other "neighborhood" or District Schools, as they were called. Built in 1878 , the West Branch Schoolhouse was located at the corner of Luce Hill Road and Mountain Road.

4. Juli 2023 · Stowe School derives its name from the quaint Buckinghamshire village, where the estate has existed in various forms for almost a millennium, even meriting a mention in the Domesday Book. In 1589, John Temple acquired the Stowe Manor and estate.
In 1922, in the face of demolition, Stowe School saved the building from certain destruction. Unlike the loss and decline of many English country houses, Stowe House found a new and revived use for the twentieth and twenty-first centuries as a school for boys and girls.
