Sparks is a 2022 Humanitas Prize Nominee for drama teleplay writing for penning the episode “May 27, 2020.” Sparks is the recipient of the 2022 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Drama alongside fellow producers Oprah Winfrey & Ava DuVernay for the fifth and sixth seasons of Queen Sugar .
