The Marvelous Marvelettes is the fourth studio album released by the Marvelettes for the Tamla label. It is the first album to not feature original Marvelette, Juanita Cowart (except on four tracks), who left the group in early 1963. The group would remain a quartet for the next two years.
The Marvelettes were an American girl group that achieved popularity in the early to mid-1960s. They consisted of schoolmates Gladys Horton, Katherine Anderson, Georgeanna Tillman, Juanita Cowart (now Cowart Motley), and Georgia Dobbins, who was replaced by Wanda Young prior to the group signing their first deal.

The Marvelettes were an American girl group in the Motown roster, active primarily in the 1960's. They are most notable for their 1961 smash hit "Please Mr. Postman" which set the precedent for later Motown girl groups and helped pave the way for Motown's later success. The group disbanded in 1970.
