Abyss is a primary antagonist from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. A legendary creature born in ancient times during the era when magic prospered, Abyss is a forbidden weapon with the power of a god, which was forgotten by time and believed to be just a fairy tale, having been sealed away in an underground temple where it spent untold centuries in a deep sleep. However, when its resting place was disturbed by the actions of a pirate organization seeking to claim it, Abyss and its unparalleled power began to awake, releasing forth the winds which mutated and killed any kind of life on its path, as it attempts to bring the world back to primordial times by devouring all life on the planet to return everything to the "Sea of the Beginnings".
Having been involved in the actions that caused Abyss' rise, devastating environmental damage and plagues which threaten the Earth itself, Ruby Heart joined forces with a mutant superhero Cable, as they round up several heroes and villains from both Marvel and Capcom Universes to stop the mysterious dark entity itself. Individuals from Ruby's own universe, Amingo and SonSon, would also be recruited during their own journeys in response to horrors of Abyss' presence.

29. Juni 2015 · The Abyss appeared on the heels of Deep Star Six and Leviathan, two superficially similar ocean-set science-fiction thrillers released earlier in 1989. Both earned poor reviews, and neither caught on with critics. Then again, The Abyss didn’t have that much luck with critics either.
Regardless, although both are realms of evil, they are a different kind of evil. Abyss has infinite planes and inhabited by demons. The nine hells are ruled by the devils. The 9 hells are filled with devils and the abyss is filled with daemons.
