Based on research and common consensus, broadsheet readers are affluent and more educated. On the contrary, tabloid readers are teenagers, working-class, or people on the go. This is due to the fact that broadsheets are far more detailed, formal, and traditional. It doesn’t serve or target a group of individuals.

März 2011 · It’s comforting to know that in many European nations (Sweden, France, Germany, Hungary, Spain, Austria, Switzerland and Portugal to name a few) at least one broadsheet holds strong among the three most-read daily newspapers. Unfortunately this doesn’t hold true in the United Kingdom.
The 'broadsheets' have a higher news content than the 'red tops', cost more to buy and have a lower circulation. The style of writing differs from tabloids with longer sentences and paragraphs...
Tabloids can shape popular culture and trends, while broadsheets set standards for quality journalism and in-depth reporting. The choice of influence depends on the target audience and the nature of the content.

Das Tabloids-Format war traditionell eher der Boulevardpresse vorbehalten. Dies hat sich aber in den 2000er Jahren gewandelt, da einige Broadsheets, wie The Times und The Independent in England oder Le Monde in Frankreich, auf Tabloid-Formate umgeschwenkt sind [4] und auch in anderen Ländern zu kleineren Formaten übergegangen wurde.
