Großes Wappen des Königreichs Italien (1943–1946) Nach dem Sturz Mussolinis im Juli 1943 wurde von der postfaschistischen Regierung Badoglio in Italien wieder das alte Wappen der Monarchie zum Staatssymbol erklärt.
Die alliierte Landung auf Sizilien 1943 bewirkte im Juli den Sturz der faschistischen Diktatur und im Waffenstillstand von Cassibile schied Italien aus dem Achsenbündnis aus. Am 13. Oktober 1943 erfolgte der erneute Kriegseintritt auf der Seite der Alliierten.
Die Ursprünge des heutigen italienischen Postwesens liegen beim Königreich Sardinien-Piemont, aus dem 1861 das Königreich Italien entstand. Anfänge einer Landespost finden sich dort Anfang des 18. Jahrhunderts. Nach der napoleonischen Besetzung entstand 1818 mit der „Königlichen Post“
