  1. Edgecombe County (/ ˈ ɛ dʒ k ə m / EJ-kum or / ˈ ɛ dʒ k oʊ m / EJ-kohm) is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 48,900. Its county seat is Tarboro. Edgecombe County is part of the Rocky Mount, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.
