EDWARD TIFFIN, the first governor of Ohio, was born in Carlisle, England on June 19, 1766. His education was attained in the common schools of England, where he studied medicine. After moving to the United States in 1784, Tiffin attended Jefferson Medical College in Pennsylvania.
Edward Tiffin trat zum Ende des 10. Kongresses zurück, dadurch fiel die Mehrheit der Republikaner kurzzeitig auf 26 gegen sieben Föderalisten, lag bei Beginn der ersten Sitzungsperiode aber bei 27 zu sieben, da der Gouverneur von Ohio Stanley Griswold zum Nachfolger Tiffins ernannte.
