Leicestershire (abbreviated Leics) is a county in central England. It takes its name from the heavily populated City of Leicester, its traditional administrative centre, although the City of Leicester is today administered separately from the rest of Leicestershire.
Leicestershire ist, mit Ausnahme der Stadt Leicester selbst und ihrer Umgebung, eher dünn besiedelt und landwirtschaftlich geprägt in flacher bis flachwelliger Landschaft. Im Westen der Grafschaft ging Steinkohlebergbau um, der mittlerweile stillgelegt ist.
