Neal Paul Hefti (October 29, 1922 – October 11, 2008) was an American jazz trumpeter, composer, and arranger. He wrote music for The Odd Couple movie and TV series and for the Batman TV series. He began arranging professionally in his teens, when he wrote charts for Nat Towles.
"Batman Theme", the title song of the 1966 Batman TV series, was composed by Neal Hefti. This song is built around a guitar hook reminiscent of spy film scores and surf music . It has a twelve bar blues progression, using only three chords until the coda .
" Li' l Darlin' " (copyrighted in 1958 as " Lil' Darlin' ") [1] is a jazz standard, composed and arranged in 1957 by Neal Hefti for the Count Basie Orchestra [2] and first recorded on the 1958 album, The Atomic Mr. Basie ( Roulette Records ). Style.
