7 June 1565 – Having received two acres of the Bishop of London’s hunting park, Sir Roger Cholmeley hands over the chapel and land for Highgate School to the six governors, together with an endowment of London properties worth £10 3s 4d a year. 1571 – Our first School statutes are issued.
Im Jahr 1565 erhielt Sir Roger Cholmeley, Knight of Highgate, von Elisabeth I. die Erlaubnis, eine freie Grammar School zu gründen. Neben seinem bereits bestehenden Landbesitz in Highgate erwarb Cholmeley vom Bischof von London ein weiteres Grundstück direkt auf dem Highgate Hill.
