It is located in the South Governorate, of which it is the capital, on the Mediterranean coast. Sidon is one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world and has a rich and diverse history that spans over 6,000 years. The city's name has changed over time and has been known by various names, including Sidun, Saida, and Saïd.
