Taipeh liegt in einem Becken am Zusammenfluss der Flüsse Danshui, Xindian und Jilong (Keelung). Während der Danshui-Fluss und der Xindian-Fluss die Stadt im Westen und Süden begrenzen, trennt der Jilong-Fluss das Stadtzentrum von den nördlichen Bezirken Zhongshan und Neihu.
