An ultra-prominent peak, or ultra for short, is a mountain summit with a topographic prominence of 1,500 metres (4,900 ft) or more; it is also called a P1500. [1] The prominence of a peak is the minimum height of climb to the summit on any route from a higher peak, or from sea level if there is no higher peak.

Die Liste der prominentesten Berge der Alpen führt alle Berge in den Alpen an, deren Schartenhöhe größer als 1500 Meter ist. Berge dieser Kategorie werden bisweilen auch als Ultra Prominent Peaks bezeichnet.
Für die weltweit gut 1500 Berge mit einer Schartenhöhe von mehr als 1500 Metern (davon liegen 44 in den Alpen) findet sich in der englischen Literatur die Bezeichnung Ultra Prominent Peak. [14] [16]
By descending to 1,500 m of prominence, this list includes all the Ultras of the Alps. Some famous peaks, such as the Matterhorn and Eiger, are not Ultras because they are connected to higher mountains by high cols and therefore do not achieve enough topographic prominence.
The prominences are Atkins Hill: 430 − 310 = 120 ft, Cave Hill: 570 − 530 = 40 ft, Mead Mountain: 671 − 530 = 141 ft. The parent peak of each peak is Great Pond Mountain.
