Western Christianity talks about the religious traditions of Christians whose ancestors were from Western Europe. Western Christianity includes people who are members of the Catholic Church , as well as people who are members of Protestant churches.
From that time, but also before it, it became common to refer to Western Christians as Latins in contrast to Byzantines or Greeks. The Latin Church employs the Latin liturgical rites, which since the mid-20th century are very often translated into the vernacular.
