Gheorghe Gheorghiu s-a născut într-o familie de muncitori bârlădeni, tatăl era Tănase Gheorghiu și mama sa, Ana. La vârsta de doi ani a fost înfiat de unchiul său Nicolae Gheorghe Ionescu din Moinești, Bacău și a urmat învățământul gimnazial în actuala școală nr. 1 „Ștefan Luchian”. [10]

Gheorghiu-Dej was the son of a poor worker from Bârlad, [1] his father was Tănase Gheorghiu and his mother, Ana. At the age of two he was adopted by his uncle Nicolae Gheorghe Ionescu from Moinești, Bacău County and attended secondary school in the current school no. 1 "Ștefan Luchian".
Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (1901-65) war ein kommunistischer Aktivist und einer der ersten sozialistischen Führer Rumäniens. Gheorghiu-Dej wurde als Sohn einer Bauernfamilie im Osten Rumäniens geboren. Er wurde Eisenbahner und war in der Gewerkschaftsbewegung aktiv.
