Rivera began coaching in the Cleveland Indians organization in 2000, and worked as their infield and first base coach from 2006 to 2009. In 2010, he joined the Toronto Blue Jays as a coaching assistant, and became the third base coach in 2012. Rivera retired at the end of the 2023 season.

8. Nov. 2023 · The Blue Jays have found their replacement for long-time coach Luis Rivera. As the 2023 regular season came to a close, long-time Blue Jays third base coach Luis Rivera announced that he was retiring. The 59-year-old had held the position on the coaching staff since all the way back in 2013.
