- The Moody Blues – Nights In White Satin. Progressive Rock hat viele Vorläufer, vom psychedelisch angehauchten Pop der Beach Boys und der Beatles über die frühen Rock-Abenteuer von Pink Floyd bis zu allerlei Experimental-Musik à la Frank Zappa und Captain Beefheart.
- King Crimson – The Court Of The Crimson King. Als eines der ersten wirklich reinrassigen Progressive-Alben – und garantiert auch eines der besten aller Zeiten – gilt King Crimsons Debütalbum aus dem Jahr 1969.
