Lawrence Lewis (April 4, 1767 – November 20, 1839) was a Virginia planter, possibly best known as the nephew of George Washington, who married Nelly Custis, a granddaughter of Martha Washington, and as one of the executors of the late president's estate.

10. Juni 2015 · Lawrence Lewis died on November 20, 1839 at the age of 72 and was buried close to George and Martha in the vault at Mount Vernon. His wife Eleanor passed away in 1852 and was placed next to her husband and much loved adopted grandparents.

4. Juni 2002 · After Martha Washington’s death in 1802 and Bushrod Washington’s move to Mount Vernon, the young Lewises lived temporarily at Betty Lewis Carter’s house, Western View, in Culpeper County. The widow Ann Gray and her son John were tenants of GW near the mill.
