1. Mai 2024 · After Cosimo de' Medici's death, control of the Medici Bank passed to his eldest son, Piero di Cosimo, known as "the Gouty" due to his severe gout. Piero, although more academically inclined than his brother, who had died in 1463, took on the leadership role. His nephew Pierfrancesco could have contested the inheritance but chose not to, likely due to strong family bonds fostered by Cosimo.
