Der Sänger Don Dokken begann seine Karriere Ende der 1970er Jahre in Deutschland, wo er mit verschiedenen amerikanischen Musikern zusammenspielte. Die erste Dokken-Besetzung 1978 bestand neben dem Namensgeber aus dem ehemaligen Vic-Vergat-Bassisten Juan Croucier und dem Schlagzeuger Greg Pecka.
