9. Mai 2023 · The tragedy in Girlschool’s story is the loss of Kelly Johnson, who quit in 1984, returned in 1993, but withdrew again in 1999 after being diagnosed with cancer. She died in 2007 at the age of 49. Girlschool will always perform those great songs they recorded with Kelly in the 80s, but as Kim McAuliffe said: “Kelly was great, and we miss her a lot.”
Real Gone celebrates the British all-female hard rock band Girlschool with a new vinyl anthology offering 12 single A-sides from the band's City and Bronze tenures including "Take It All Away," "Race With the Devil," "Hit and Run," "C'Mon Let's Go" and "Please Don't Touch" (performed with Motorhead).
CD 4 features many rare B-Sides and non-album cuts, as well as demos dating from 1978 up to 2002 and CD5 boasts an ultra rare live recording from the pre-Girlschool Painted Lady. This five disc set comes with an extended essay from NWOBHM expert John Tucker, and features plenty of pages of rare photos and sought after memorabilia. Box Set Credits.

4. Okt. 2023 · Career expectations. McAuliffe: In 1978, had somebody predicted Girlschool would still be around forty-five years later, I’d have told ’em they were stupid. In our twenties I remember the four of us promising that when we hit forty, no matter where we were in the world, we’d all meet up again and celebrate – nobody thinking for a moment that the band could still be going.
