I began watching The Late Edwina Black because of my fondness for Victorian murder melodramas but was about to give up on it, after a slow start, when Roland Culver, a big favorite at Chateau Noir, turned up as a Scotland Yard inspector and it became obvious that Rollie was going to have a significant role. The film gradually became more interesting, almost ending with a bang.
