Arthur Rankin was a Canadian surveyor, militia officer, showman, mining entrepreneur, and politician. Born in 1816 in Montreal, he was the son of Irish immigrants George Rankin, a teacher, and Mary Stuart. In 1840 he married Mary McKee; they had two sons. He died in 1893 in Windsor, Ontario.
