But the bouncy auburn-haired British lass (born Joyce Audrey Botterill on April 27, 1939 in Northampton, England) had a prolific career on television before she literally made a splash on that groovy hit variety series.
A British actress who fond fame performing on the sketch comedy show Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1968-1970), Carne became known for her catchphrase, “sock it to me.” She moved to America in 1962 and appeared on shows including The Man from U.N.C.L.E.
