Website. www .ncf .edu. New College of Florida is a public liberal arts college in Sarasota, Florida. The college is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges. In 2023, the state government of Florida overhauled its board of trustees in an attempt to transform the school into a conservative institution.
Vor 6 Tagen · New College of Florida debuted a version of its liberal arts degree in Spring 2024 that features classes offered through distance learning, supported by live video-conferencing seminars and discussion groups so that it is accessible to students everywhere. The liberal arts curriculum spans the period from Ancient Greece to the modern age.
The Foundation. New College was founded in 1379 by William of Wykeham (1324-1404), Bishop of Winchester, as The College of St Mary of Winchester in Oxford. It very soon became known as New College to distinguish it from an earlier Oxford college (Oriel, founded 1326) also dedicated to the Virgin Mary.
