19. Jan. 2024 · Ronnie Spector provided backing vocals for the song Ode to LA, on the Raveonettes' album Pretty in Black (2005). Ronnie's solo album, Last of the Rock Stars (2006), was released by Bad Girl Sounds and featured contributions from members of the Raconteurs, Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Raveonettes, Patti Smith and Keith Richards. Spector herself co-produced two of the songs.
Spector continued to tour periodically until her death in 2022. Born Veronica Bennett on August 10, 1943, in New York, New York, Ronnie Spector rose to fame as a member of the Ronettes, a girl group featuring her sister Estelle Bennett and cousin Nedra Talley. Her powerful and unique voice was a main strength of the band.

The Ronettes scored an impressive run of hit singles in the early 1960s, and were an exemplar of the girl group style, giving the songs a tougher, streetwise edge.
Those influences are still present on 'Pretty in Black' but the palette is much broader, with 60s girl groups (Ronnie Spector guests on 'Ode to LA'), Link Wray, the Everly Brothers and even Hank Williams adding to the mix. Much of the credit for the perfect pop sheen should go to veteran producer Richard Gottehrer, who embodies the line from the Brill Building through immediate New Wave ...
