John Anthony Devine (born 11 November 1958) is an Irish former footballer and manager/coach. [1] Devine began his career with English club Arsenal along with a number of fellow Irish apprentices, He progressed through the youth ranks at Highbury and played in the 1980 FA Cup final defeat against West Ham United .
Geelong legend John Devine has passed away at the age of 82. Credit: Twitter. After seven years at Geelong, Devine moved to Tasmania and became captain-coach of North Hobart. He had immediate impact, too, taking the club from last to grand final glory. After the 1967 triumph, North Hobart would again win grand finals in 1969 and 1974 under Devine.
