  2. This chapter discusses the 2nd rare earth permanent magnetic alloy, the 2:17 type rare earth cobalt permanent magnetic alloy (RE2Co17).

  3. 29. Apr. 2009 · Rare-earth doped ZnO nanoparticles are found to be suitable for white light generation [16]. Here, we report the synthesis of pure and rare-earth doped Ga 2 O 3 nanoparicles by a simple solvothermal route. It is found that Ga 2 O 3 nanoparticles sensitize the rare-earth activator, and produce bright green, red and white light.

In their oxides, most rare-earth elements only have a valence of 3 and form sesquioxides (cerium forms CeO2 ). Five different crystal structures are known, depending on the element and the temperature.
