Niki Christina Ashton is a Canadian politician. She is a New Member of the Democratic Party of Congress for the Churchill federal electoral district - Keewatinook Aski in Manitoba, Canada. She was elected for the first time in the 2008 federal election. Ashton announced her intention to run for the helm of the federal NDP on March 7, 2017.
Niki was first elected as MP for Churchill–Keewatinook Aski in 2008, Niki has been a key member of the NDP Caucus, having served as NDP critic for Aboriginal Affairs, Status of Women, Post-Secondary Education and Youth, Jobs, Employment and Workforce Development, Reconciliation between Canada and Indigenous Peoples, and more recently for Public Ownership and Transport.
