Richard Johnson (30 July 1927 – 6 June 2015) was a English actor, writer and producer. His career began in 1950. He is known for his role as Grandpa in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas. He was born in Upminster, Essex, England. [1] Johnson died on 6 June 2015, at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, London, aged 87. [2]
Richard Johnson was born on February 2, 1961, in Danville, Pennsylvania. At the age of 11, Johnson moved with his family to New Jersey. After attending three different high schools in five years, Johnson studied at Bucknell University, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. He graduated in 1984 with a B.A. in Political Science.
A British actor who helped establish both the Royal Shakespeare Company and National Theatre, Johnson also enjoyed an illustrious screen career after becoming an early MGM contract star.
