Der schwedische Regisseur Victor Sjöström (1879-1960) ist in Deutschland als Schauspieler in Ingmar Bergmans "Wilde Erdbeeren" berühmt geworden. In der Stummfilmzeit gehörte Sjöström auch zu den international bekannten Regisseuren. 1923 ging er wie viele seiner berühmten europäischen Kollegen nach Hollywood, wo er neun Filme drehte. 1930 kehrte er nach Schweden zurück.
Der Wind ist ein US-amerikanisches Filmdrama unter Regie von Victor Sjöström aus dem Jahre 1928 mit Lillian Gish in der Hauptrolle. Der Stummfilm nach Dorothy Scarboroughs Roman wurde 1993 ins National Film Registry als „kulturell, historisch oder ästhetisch bedeutsam“ aufgenommen.
