Background. Hal Pereira (1905-1983) was a notable art director for Hollywood films from the 1940s through the 1960s. Born in Chicago, Pereira started out in theater design in that same city before moving to Los Angeles and working for Paramount Studios as a unit art director. In 1944 he was art designer for the great film noir Double Indemnity.
Présentation. I have focused the last 15 years of my career on learning how best to implement computational methods in neurology and psychiatry. Having a background in Physics, a master's in Biomedical Sciences and a Ph.D. in Medical Pathophysiology, my research was a pioneer in Brazil on employing functional connectivity MRI in epilepsy.
Pereira began his career designing film theaters in Chicago, moved to the West Coast in 1942 and was made supervising art director at Paramount in 1950--a post he held for 18 years. Pereira worked on over 150 films and received 23 Academy nominations, each earned with at least one collaborator.
