In the Navy is a 1941 American comedy film directed by Arthur Lubin and starring the team of Abbott and Costello alongside Dick Powell, Claire Dodd and The Andrews Sisters. Produced and distributed by Universal Pictures , it was the second service comedy based on the peacetime draft of 1940 .
Synopsis. The two bungling buddies of “Behind the Front” come “Down to the Sea in Ships” with comic results. “Stinky” Smith makes off with the prize money when his buddy, “Knockout” Hansen loses a fight with Percival “Sailor” Scruggs. Unfortunately, not only is Harkness new to commanding a naval vessel, but the crew and his subordinate officers are also new at their jobs. Only two old deck hands know the score. And, while Harkness is trying to figure out naval protocol, he also has to deal with the contraption in the engine room, which turns out to be an elaborate steam engine that powers the ship.

As a Naval Reservist I did have my turn at being on this ship: Nicked named "USS TEAKETTLE" as result of the Movie 'You're In The Navy Now". Later I was stationed in the NavyYard where I served my active duty in the Potomac River Naval Command.
