David Slade really won our hearts with the dark and bloodthirsty 30 Days of Night. His films are always visually rich. Dark Harvest is a great little Halloween tale with some interesting themes of family, greed, and mystery. It's all beautifully woven together with a bit of the supernatural in the small town monster Sawtooth Jack.

Hinzu kommt, dass die Geschichte in den 1960ern spielt, wodurch der Rassismus-Aspekt noch stärker eingebaut werde kann. Ein richtiges Zeitporträt ist der Horrorfilm deswegen aber nicht.
