The Fourth Dimension is a film made up of three short films, all of which are supposedly connected by the theme of exploring the fourth dimension. I didn't really concern myself with the fourth dimension aspect of these shorts, as I didn't really see the connection at all. Instead, I focused on appreciating the shorts as individual films, and as a result, I enjoyed all three.

The Fourth Dimension is an elegant meditation on time, travel, and ceremony in the form of a journey. In her first foray into digital video, Trinh T. Min-ha deconstructs the role of ritual in mediating between the past and the present.
The soundscape in her films is fucking nuts, especially here with all the drums, chanting and various ritual sounds - it’s so jarring and abrasively done that it legitimately feels like you’re someone from another dimension hearing these sounds for the first time. Except Trinh isn’t putting on a character, I feel like this is actually who she is - and she’s so awesome.
